Description
Alubat OVNI 385 (1997)
Solid aluminum sailboat, USA-documented and flagged.
Currently at the Dutch Caribbean, and in route to the USA.
Monohull equipped for offshore navigation, veteran of a transatlantic crossing and extensive Caribbean navigation.
Version “Owner” with toilet in its own separate cubicle.
Lifting keel (centerboard) and lifting rudder allows the boat the find shelter just about everywhere. In rough seas with the keel up, the boat glides smoothly providing extra comfort for all onboard.

Fuel capacity: 85 Gal (320 L) reported capacity, in a tank located under the forward V berth. The tank was serviced during the summer of 2017, which included welding of new aluminum “L” pipes on the inspection plate. The tank was emptied and cleaned.

Configuration
Special interior layout designed for blue water cruising.
Coming down the companionway one faces a large saloon, with galley to port, and with separated bathroom and head to starboard. The chart table is also to starboard.
The galley has a foldable counter to provide an extra convenient working surface next to the sink, and support when in route.
The large settees on the saloon area double as single beds. The one on the port side can be easily converted into a double bed.
The large saloon table fold onto the centerboard box in two halves. The top of the centerboard box provides an useful console on the centerline.
The large forward V-cabin sleeps two, door is to starboard.
The larger aft cabin sleeps two as well, door is to port.
The sails locker is outside, on the foredeck, just aft of the anchor locker, and has an inspection opening to the forward cabin.

12 V DC refrigerator, water cooled.
Water maker 12V Aqua-base 30 L/hr (2012) which was serviced during the summer of 2017 by the technicians of Caraibe Gréement, Martinique. Note that the water maker has not been operated since that 2017 service and would need flushing with cleaning chemicals.

Engine
Volvo Penta MD 22 L diesel, 50 HP, 4 cylinders. Major service performed in the summer 2017 by Inboard Diesel, Martinique. The service included rebuilding of the raw water pump, change of fluids, and fuel and oil filters. A new Alternator has been ordered and has arrived at Curaçao’s Customs House and needs clearing.
Reverse gear MS2L-E and shaft, serviced by Inboard Diesel as above.
Engine mounts (silent blocks) changed in 2012
Fuel tank forward, 320 L reported capacity, serviced in the summer of 2017.

Sail locker located between the anchor locker and the forward bulkhead of the bow cabin.
Keel Lifting System is mechanical with serviceable blocks and ropes
Rudder Lifting System is hydraulic operated with a simple manual pump installed at the aft end of the starboard cockpit locker. Pump system needs servicing.
The boat is beach able with both keel and rudder in the up position.
Large (stored inside) and small cockpit tables
Sprayhood in green UV-resistant canvas, matching green boat stripes.
Smartly designed stern swim platform with fresh water shower, and lockable storage for cooking gas, and other materials, also at the stern is the live raft.
